We're happy to launch an updated preview site for the feature length documentary, Raising Bertie. We've had the privilege of collaborating with the filmmakers over the last couple of years producing various promotional design work. This week, Team Bertie is heading to New York City for IFP's Independent Film Week held September 21-25. IFP's Independent Film Week "is a one-of-a-kind event that brings the international film and media community to New York City to celebrate diversity in storytelling, advocate for the most exciting new work being produced and introduce new voices on the independent scene."
Raising Bertie will be 1 out of 150 films that will be at the event and the team is happy to have been invited to this exciting showcase. We hope that their shiny new website helps get them the promotion they deserve to tell this important story about youth in rural in America.
RAISING BERTIE is the coming-of-age tale of three young black men in rural Bertie County, North Carolina. Filmed over six years, this powerful and starkly poetic verité film weaves these young men’s stories together as they navigate unemployment, grief, violence, first love, fatherhood and estrangement from family members and mentors, all while trying to define their identities as adults. The evocative result is an experience that encourages us to recognize the value in lives and communities all too often ignored by the mainstream.
Film coming in 2016.
